BOBBI BECK’s Menagerie: An Art Exhibition of Strange & Exotic Creatures

Share

March 1 through March 31, 2014

Program Locations:

Bloomingdale Library

Bobbi Beck’s exhibition of recent artworks explores her world of warped Mother Nature. These anthropomorphic artworks incorporate human and animal forms in the same manner that ancient cultures created centaurs and mermaids in mythology. She had always observed that animals and humans are constantly mimicking each other in their behavior and relationships. As a child she was fascinated with animated cartoons, where animals speak, dress and behave like us. Combining surrealism and reality, she expresses her personal feelings and emotions in these works.

Library Visitor’s Comments:
“Weird, Whimsical and Wonderful.”
“Beautiful ... Otherworldly.”
“It reminds me of something from Alice in Wonderland.”
“Freud would have a field day with you my dear. Your work is amazing and coupled with the ability to express it visually is a gift to us all.”
