Standing in the studio one day the artist spoke the fatal and ancient word. "O Sing Muse." They did, and she was inspired, but now they won't leave. They dog her steps; haunt her studio and offer recriminations if she ventures out of it.
So now in the fantastical world of NYC Marie Hines Cowan, surrounded by everything that NYC has to offer and the swirling influences of pop culture from the mid 20 century, the Neoteric* Roman poets, classical literature and ekphrasis* she creates her Popteric* paintings and stories.
* Popteric is a word is a newly invented to describe the linking of the Classics with pop culture of 1970s New York City.
