To Join an English Class, Attend an Information Session!

(We offer 2 types of classes: for people who want to learn and improve their English and for people who speak English, but need help with reading & writing in English. All new students MUST come to an information sessions first, even if it is not in the library where they would like to take English classes)

MANHATTAN NEW STUDENT INFORMATION SESSIONS:

Seward Park Library : Thursday, January 3rd at 12pm or 6pm.

Harlem Library: Monday, January 7th at 12pm or 6pm.

Adult Basic Education (ABE) - Reading and Writing

The Centers for Reading and Writing help adults who have difficulties reading and writing improve their communication skills. The Centers are welcoming neighborhood settings that help new readers and writers become comfortable with library services. All services are free for students registered in the program.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) - Listening and Speaking

English language classes are available at selected libraries in the Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island. In a welcoming environment, we provide a resource-rich learning community with level-appropriate print materials, high-interest multi-media instruction using the We Are New York television series, and state of the art computer labs with software programs including Rosetta Stone.
