Biography
William Carlos Williams was an American poet, novelist, essayist, and translator.
Scope and Content Note
This is a synthetic collection consisting of typescripts and correspondence. The typescripts consist of essays, poems, and reviews by the author, as well as a review and article relating to the author by Randall Jarrell and Norman Holmes Pearson. The correspondence consists of letters, dating from 1927 to 1954, from the author to Babette Deutsch, Randall Jarrell, Alfred Kazin, Muriel Rukeyser, May Sarton, Frances Steloff, Ruth Witt-Diamant, and others, as well as letters relating to the author, dating from 1940 to 1965, between various correspondents, including Clayton Hoagland, Alfred Kreymborg, Frances Steloff, Mike Weaver, Ruth Witt-Diamant and others. There is also a letter, dated Aug. 29, 1957, from Kenneth Lawrence Beaudoin to Williams.
