Search Tips

The Keyword Search searches database titles, descriptions and subjects. This does not search for articles, titles of book or journals. The following suggestions may assist you in locating an online database or index that is relevant to your research.

Operator	Example	Result
AND	history AND art	Searches for results that contain both words.
OR	history OR art	Searches for results that contain either word.
NOT	history NOT art	Eliminates results in which the word is found.
( )	(psychiatry AND psychology) OR sociology	Words in parentheses are evaluated first.
" "	"American Studies"	Words in quotes are searched as a phrase.
	American Studies	Adjacent words are searched as a phrase.
*	histor*	Indicates any number of characters. histor* will return history, histories or historical.
?	histor?	Indicates any single character. histor? will return history.

Note: All searches are case insensitive.
