Pittsburgh Courier (1911-2002)
One of the most nationally circulated Black newspapers, the Courier reached its peak in the 1930s. A conservative voice in the African-American community, the Courier challenged the misrepresentation of African-Americans in the national media and advocated social reforms to advance the cause of civil rights.

Project Muse
A full-text database of recent issues of journals in the humanities, social sciences, and mathematics. **For best results use the browser Internet Explorer when using the database offsite. Firefox and Safari browsers will not produce a log in screen.

Proquest Dissertations and Theses
Includes citations for dissertations from 1861 to those accepted as recently as last semester. Abstracts from 1980 - present.

ProQuest Civil War Era (1840-1865)
Combines complete runs of eight newspaper titles, covering 1840-1865, as well as nearly 2,000 pamphlets covering a wide range of topics, focusing on the entire era — from Manifest Destiny through the end of the Civil War.
