I think you're right about the value of such items though it set me thinking in a different direction.

It made me wonder about the way in which we think and feel and how that has changed so dramatically over this period. The very actions that the magazine seems to imply include the making of clothes, something very few people now would even consider as being normal. The selection of fabrics, not clothes, is something not normally thought of now.

In many ways the past (and not so far off too) is a strange country.
