Notes: Although the name of the paper changed from New York Daily Tribune to New York Tribune with the issue for April 10, 1866, all indexes have title: New York Daily Tribune Index. Founded by Horace Greeley in 1841, the New York Tribune quickly established itself as the standard for journalism in mid-19th century America.
