The 160,000-square-foot Central Library Plan will create a new circulating library within the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building while preserving its facade and original interiors.

Doubling Public Space

The Central Library Plan will more than double public space at 42nd Street by converting an area the size of seven football fields—the closed book stacks—into a lending library and other educational spaces.
