The Office of Community Outreach Services can make arrangements
to provide the following services to shelters:
- Deposit Collections of Books
- Read Aloud Programs for Children in Shelters
- "Read-to-me" Programs at Branch Libraries
- Library Orientation at Shelters and Branches
In addition, The New York Public Library provides a collection
of books and other informational materials on the local New York
City area called the Community Information Service (available at
all branches). The Collection includes:
- Reference Manual for Food, Shelter and Resources for the
Homeless by Coalition for Homeless (in section #4 Social,
Health, Multi-Service )
- The Current Interest Notebook, which includes:
- Food Resources by Resources for Children with Special
Needs, Inc.
- Homelessness Outreach and Prevention Project by Urban
Justice Center
- Where To Get Help by the Human Resources Administration
(in section #4)
- How...Why... Where: Information for Homeless Families
