Castle Hill Branch Information

Branch History

The Castle Hill Branch of The New York Public Library, a modern spacious brick building located on Castle Hill Avenue near the corner of Bruckner Boulevard, was opened in July 1981. Fully accessible to persons who use wheelchairs, the one story facility houses an adult, young adult, and children's collection. A multi-use meeting room is available for community group meetings as well as library programs. Open to the public since 1961, the library was previously located at Cincinnatus Avenue.

In 2000, the branch underwent a "spruce up" providing new shelving, reading room furniture, flooring, roof, and 16 new computers with upgraded telecommunications equipment.

Programs

• Picture book hours, story hours, films, and special events for all ages, including magic shows, puppet shows, workshops, and concerts
• Class visits by appointment
• Click-On computer classes for adults offered Mondays twice a month 10 a.m.-12 p.m., please call for scheduled dates.
