Clason's Point Branch Information

Branch History

The Clason's Point Branch of The New York Public Library, a modern spacious brick building located on Morrison Avenue between 172nd Street and Westchester Avenue, was opened in May 1974. Fully accessible to persons who use wheelchairs, the one story facility houses an adult, young adult, and children's collection. A meeting room located at the rear of the library is available for community group meetings as well as library programs. Open to the public since 1952, the library was previously located at Harrod Place.

  • Book collections for adults, young adults, and children in English and Spanish available for borrowing and use in the library
  • Videos, DVDs, CDs, books on tape, and audiocassettes for adults and young adults in English and Spanish
  • Videos, books-on-tape, book/cassettes, and audiocassettes for children in English and Spanish
  • Community Information Service Collection
  • Personal computers and software for free public use by appointment
  • Internet access for free public use by appointment
  • CHOICES: Community Health Onsite Information Centers.

Programs

  • Special events for all ages, including magic shows, puppet shows, films, picture book hours, workshops, and concerts
  • Class visits by appointment
