In May, 1997, The Board of Trustees of the Vincent Astor Foundation, most notably its President, Brooke (Mrs. Vincent) Astor, approved a grant to The New York Public Library. The annual proceeds of this endowment are used to purchase literary fiction, nonfiction, and poetry for Branch Library collections. Since its start, over five hundred books have been designated as Astor titles. This booklist highlights a few and will, we hope, lead you to seek out more of these titles.
