As the school year ends and the members of our Teen Advisory Group plan to ride off into the sunset (or at least take a vacation or go to summer camp), I thought I would share some more of their favorite books, CDs, and DVDs that they enjoyed this year.

It is my day off and I have some errands to do! However, that shouldn't keep me from what I really love: WRITING BLOG POSTS.

The television series Walking Dead, as seen on the cable channel American Movie Classics, was recently released on DVD. The hit TV show has been renewed for a second season, which will most likely air in the fall. If you need your zombie fix sooner than later and need to know what happens to the survivors, visit your local library and check out the graphic novels that inspired the TV show.

Last week I started a Tumblr account for The Battery Park City Branch.   I'm thinking it will be used for content too long for Twitter and too short for this blog.  The majority of the first few posts have been about library related ephemera: comic book art depicting libraries, things found in library books, and anonymous snapshots.

After I'd spent four Sunday evenings in January engrossed in the doings of the Earl of Grantham and his household on the PBS "Masterpiece Classic" series Downton Abbey, this month's choice for Spencer Collection Book of the Month was obvious: a book that lingered for more than three centuries in the company of barons and earls, before being exiled from their presence in exchange for cold, hard cash.

Daydreaming of an English holiday that you just can't afford to take? Keep saving your money, and in the meantime, use your New York Public Library card to take you to your destination. These books, albums, and DVDs will transport you to England without leaving home.

Fans of the ABC Family television series Pretty Little Liars rejoice – new episodes began airing on January 3, 2011! The hit drama, based on Sara Shepard’s series of books by the same name, premiered this past summer to less than favorable critical reviews, but the fans ate it right up. The series won the 2010 Teen Choice Award for Choice Summer TV Show, with awards also going to Ian Harding (Ezra) and Lucy Hale (Aria) for Choice Summer TV Star: Male and Female, respectively.

It’s often difficult to explain The Vampire Diaries to someone who’s never seen it. The best way to describe it would be as the modern lovechild between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the early years of Dawson’s Creek. Kevin Williamson, who wrote Creek and Scream among others, developed the show for The CW along with executive producer Julie Plec. The show is very loosely based on the multiple L.J. Smith novels of the same name. As he told the London paper The Independent, Williamson was not initially interested in developing the series, but soon became attracted to the idea of a small town with a dark secret. It turns 

Sure, there is still the postseason.  The Texas Rangers and the San Francisco Giants are in the World Series, but with the Yankees out of the picture for many New Yorkers the 2010 season of baseball is officially over. This seasonal end to the national pastime combined with the current seasonal change in temperature always brings to mind one thing: the other national pastime. Football.

This summer, LPA is currently presenting a wonderful exhibition developed by the Margaret Herrick Library, Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. The Peregrinations & Pettifoggery of W. C. Fields will be on view here through August 21st.  There is also a screening series of Fields silent and sound films on Tuesday aftenoons. 

Okay so we can't all have a wedding at the beautiful Schwarzman Building like Carrie... but, we all can access the same great works of literature, cinema and music that the awesome and trendy ladies of SATC are seen enjoying throughout their movies.

The start of the new batch of episodes of "Glee" starts on April 13th. This is a moment 4 months in the making or 16 weeks or …oh, who am I kidding, I’m a theater geek not a math major and I just know that it has been a very long time since my favorite show was on.

Each day, professional, aspiring and student film and media-makers come through the doors of the Library for the Performing Arts (LPA) seeking resources that will aid in making their creativity become a reality.

If the 16th century focused on painting, the 19th on photography and the 20th on cinema, the 21st is all about integrated media.

Teens at the Kingsbridge Library have a LOT to say about DVDs, games, and graphic novels on the Stuff for the Teen Age 2010 List.

For 80 years, New York Public Library staff shared the best titles for teens in an annual list called Books for the Teen Age.

Last year, Books for the Teen Age became Stuff for the Teen Age, a multimedia, multi-format, targeted, and teen-tested list of the best of the year in teen books, music, graphic novels, movies, games, and more.

This year, Stuff for the Teen Age becomes a blog.

This week Jefferson Market's teen book group, the Undercover Muffins, discussed some of the TV shows they watched as kids. Whether the shows were "awesome" or "so wrong," take a trip back in time with them and see what they have to say:
