Booktalking "The Very Best Pumpkin" by Mark Kimball Moulton

very best

Pumpkin Hollow Farm is where Peter lives with his grandparents and parents. Life is delicious on the farm, and the boy enjoys corn, strawberries, and pumpkins when they are in season. Peter gravitates especially to the pumpkin field. He loves their beautiful vines and leaves, and they all have unique shapes. Most of the pumpkins grow clumped together, but there is one lonely pumpkin that sits by itself.

Peter gives special attention to that pumpkin. Meg, his friend from next door, loves the renegade squash. During the autumn buying season, Peter is tasked with playing matchmaker between the pumpkins and the locals. He finds happy homes for many of them, but no one has yet chosen the pumpkin that he lavished love on. Hopefully, it will find a home.

I love the 3D illustration on the cover, which is very detailed. The autumn colors in the book are awesome. The book even had instructions on the last page for growing pumpkins.
