Booktalking "Ready to Wear" by Chloe Taylor

Zoey and her friends Priti and Kate are beyond thrilled  when their middle school abolishes school uniforms. Guess that petition Zoey started last spring and the new principal had a hand in that. Fashion freedom at last! This will open up new horizons to Zoey in the clothing department.

With the help of her friends, Zoey starts an inspirational blog called "Sew Zoey." In it, she shares her sewing secrets, fashion designs, and clothing adventures. As a tribute to her deceased fashion goddess mother, Zoey sets about teaching herself the secrets of the sewing machine.

The fabric shop, "A Stitch in Time," is the best thing since sliced bread, according to Zoey. She is dazzled by the myriad displays of buttons, cloth, zippers and everything fashion. Zoey has ideas about what she wants to wear, but she does not find them in clothing stores.

Zoey creates cute bathing suit cover-ups for herself and her friends. She dreams about short sets and fancy dresses. Zoey pretty much thinks that she hit the jackpot when her school principal approaches her to design a dress for the annual fashion show. Schoolwork beckons, but all Zoey can think about is fabric, stitching, and creating clothing masterpieces.
