Booktalking "Putting Makeup on the Fat Boy" by Bil Wright

"Carrlos Duarte, makeup artist to the stars."

Carlos loves cosmetics, and he begs his friend Angie to give him the lowdown on how to snatch up a job at FeatureFace at Macy's. Angie hems and haws... but she eventually produces an application. Carlos knows just how to impress the interviewer, and it involves a $300 pair of knee-high Stella boots. He's convinced that the Stellas, along with his sparkling personality, are the key to success.

Bruises keep appearing on his sister Rosalia's face, and his mother becomes more and more livid about her boyfriend Danny. Carlos takes charge, and he promises to solve the problem.

Crush on Gleason, who wears red jeans, and he looks ever so cute.

Customers love Carrlos, and he impresses a persnickety lady way out in the boondocks with his eye-lift magic for her reunion luncheon. Movie star Shirlena begs for the Macy's hypoallergenic line so that she can stop breaking out.
