We've got a lot going on at New Dorp Library this month, and you don't want to miss any of it! Don't worry, we've got you covered with the October Events Calendar. This month only, "Robin Hood," a play of heroic deeds and jolly adventure for ages 4 and up, Thursday October 10 at 4 p.m. Plus our full complement of ongoing programs for children, teens, and adults of all ages!

Special Programs

"Robin Hood"

Join us this week for a special production of "Robin Hood" by the Traveling Lantern Theatre Company right in the New Dorp Library Community Room! This is "the exuberant tale of intrepid Robin Hood and his Merry Men, who are ever jauntily escaping from the clutches of the ill-disposed Sheriff of Nottingham." We're so pleased to welcome back the wonderful Traveling Lantern Theatre Company, who have been a great hit in the past. Look forward to an afternoon of fun and adventure, and maybe even a sword-fight! We hope to see you there!

Teen Events

Mondays October 21, and 28, 2:00 - 4:00 PM
Come join us for fun in the community room. Play your favorite games on the PS3 and the Wii. Come hang out with your friends! You can bring your snacks, soda, coffee, homework, iPod. Check out a laptop and browse the internet! For ages 12-18. 
 
Wednesdays October 9 and 16, 2:00 – 4:00 PM 
Your two favorite programs – Teen Art & Anime Club have combined !! Talk Anime and Draw Manga or Talk Manga and don’t draw Anime. It’s up to you. For ages 12 to 18. 
 
Friday October 18, 2:00 – 4:00 PM 
Join our Teen Advisory Group and get hands on experience volunteering for the Library.
Earn Community Service hours by attending our monthly meetings and giving us your input!  What's happening in your world? What’s the hottest book, movie, or cd right now? What programs does the library need? 
This is a great way to meet new friends and really get involved in what goes on here at the New Dorp Library.

Free - Family Movies!
Free family movies will be shown on Saturdays, at 2:00 PM.
October 12 – "Monsters, Inc.,” and October 26 – “Hotel Transylvania.”
Children may take home a free coloring sheet of the movie character.
  
For ages 3 years and older – wear your costume!

Free Math & Reading Tutoring
Free math tutoring for children Pre-K to 8th grade
Free reading tutoring for children Pre-K to 3rd grade
Presented by Staten Island Technical H.S. volunteers and Stuyvesant High School volunteers.
Tuesdays from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM

Events for Adults

Tuesdays, October 15, 22 and 29, 2013 @ 1:00 PM-2:00 PM
The Stay Well exercise program is geared for all seniors, ranging from the fit to those with disabilities. The curriculum includes aerobic exercises as well as routines designed to enhance balance, build muscle strength and aid in the performance of the tasks associated with daily living. Classes end with stress reduction exercises. Classes normally run 40 - 50 minutes and are held once a week.

Join other American Mah Jongg enthusiasts for an afternoon of enjoyable play.  If you have a Mah Jongg set and a Mah Jongg card, please bring them.  All levels welcome.

Participants must supply their own yarn, needles, small scissors, and the pattern you want to work on.
