Job Summary

Assigned to NYPD’s Communications Section as 911 emergency call taker. Serve as radio dispatcher of police resources and perform all other clerical and administrative duties related to the provision of emergency service. PCT’s are required to work shifts, including evenings or night tours, and/or Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. There is per-shift pay, as well as night shift pay differential.

Salary

The current minimum salary is $33,162 per year; after 1 year, $34,263; after 2 years, $41,940; after 3 years and radio training, $44,899. 

Job Requirements

  • Hall of Invention - Telephone operator with antique telephones, Digital ID 1675209, New York Public LibraryFour year high school diploma or its educational equivalent , plus:
  • One year of satisfactory full time experience performing clerical , typing, or secretarial work; or
  • one year of satisfactory full-time experience dealing with the public, including the obtaining of information from persons; or
  • The successful completion of 30 college semester credits from an accredited college or university; or
  • Two years of active U.S.military duty with honorable discharge.
  • Must be a resident of NYC within 90 days of appointment;
  • Must pass medical, psychological and drug screening requirements to be appointed.
