Panjiva - A New Global Sourcing Tool
Façade du magasin Leiser, à Berlin., Digital ID 1555734, New York Public LibraryDo you own a business? Work as designer, distributer, or manage a retail boutique? Maybe you're a buyer for a large store? You need to find reliable suppliers for your business.
Panjiva, a new database you can access at SIBL, NYPL's business library, can help you identify suppliers and manufacturers in over 190 countries. A search in Panjiva for a keyword such as sweaters, coffee beans, or guitars, returns results from the database of over 1 miilion suppliers worldwide.
Next you can limit by country and vet suppliers based on ratings, red flags, or number of recent shipments and find the most active suppliers.
Panjiva not only gives details and contact information for the companies, but can show you who their customers are — who is buying from them, and provides data on recent shipments.
You can search by customers to identify which suppliers your competitors are using, which can be valuable information. Panjiva gathers information from many sources, including company supplied data, D&B, and U. S. Customs data. The database covers waterborne shipments only, but also provides general trends data for top exporters and most active trade ports.
Panjiva is a unique business resource newly available at SIBL, free onsite during all open hours. Just ask a librarian and get started!
