Support Your Local #LaughLibrary

Do you like to laugh? Of course you do. That's why we at the @AwesomeLibrary have put together a #LaughLibrary. What better place to find a good, inexpensive laugh than at your local library?

The mission statement of the #LaughLibrary is "to assemble for the public a collection of the Library's funniest DVDs, CDs, and books, by the world's greatest comedians." The #LaughLibrary puts these comedic materials in the forefront.

The #LaughLibrary is curated by the @AwesomeLibrary team of Steve Herman and Imer Ardolic. Having two different perspectives on the comedy world allows us to reach a broader audience. Steve is kind of a comedy snob, who is a fan of established alternative comedians and up-and-comers, while Imer is more a fan of classic comedians and mainstream comics.

The #LaughLibrary doesn't stop inside the Library. We will regularly create lists of our favorite comedic materials in our BiblioCommons catalog — our first list is #LaughLibrary: All Time Favorite Stand-Ups Edition. Also, look out for articles about the comedy scene put out by the #LaughLibrary.

Be sure to check out our premiere blog post, The Top 12 New York Comedians to Check Out in 2012. We can also be interacted with in the social media realm. On Twitter, check out the #LaughLibrary hashtag, or tweet us at @AwesomeLibrary to talk about all things comedy in your library. One notable person talking about the #LaughLibrary on Twitter is George Carlin's daughter, Kelly Carlin! And don't forget to check us out on our Facebook page!
