The Pic Pick of the Week is...

A Bad Case of the Stripes

Written and Illustrated by David Shannon

Camila is always worried about what other people think about her. The first day of school has arrived and she has to make sure that everyone likes what she is wearing.  Nevermind what Camila likes, it's all about what other people like.  For her first day of school she tried on many dresses, and avoided her favorite dish, lima beans! Why would you avoid your favorite food?

Should it matter whether other people think what you like to eat is gross, even if you enjoy it?

Well, in this story Camila sure will learn a lesson, especially when she suddenly wakes up with stripes all over her body!

Who's going to like her then? Uh oh!

Have you ever felt ashamed of who you are or felt like you needed to fit in?

Is there a favorite food or combination of foods that your friends or family find odd?

I like to put cole slaw in my split pea soup, what's your weird combination?

Today's coloring page is a plate of spontaneity!

Print out the image of a plate and draw your favorite wacky food.

Here are some other books by David Shannon.
