My Library: Loretta

Why I keep coming back to the library... I want to say that the library has been my refuge since public school. Because I was a very shy person, I didn't participate in many activities. Since the day my teacher introduced me to Curious George I was hooked. By reading I was able to experience so many things that would never have come my way. Because there was not a lot of money in my household (my mom was a single parent of 6), we spent many hours going to the public library. And then I would begin my reading adventures. Even now as an adult in my 50s and an avid member of the Go On Girl! Book Club, I use the library to its fullest: I reserve all of the books that we read and I get movies and CDs too. In college I did so much research in the library, it was like my second home. I wanted to be a librarian all my life and even started at Pratt Institute with classes but couldn't finish for financial reasons. These budget cuts will definitely hurt our youth today and our seniors who use the library to keep track of things in the world. Please keep our libraries open.
