Job Ready and Dress Ready, too: BLC Employment Expo

On May 26 from 10 am – 3 pm the Bronx Library Center will be having its 3rd Annual Employment Expo.  All will receive critical job skills.  However, especially unique about this year’s expo is the first 100 women job seekers who attend will receive free business appropriate attire provided by the non-profit Dress for Success.
 
Highlights of the day are as follows:
 
10-11 am: Insider Tips on Breaking into a Tough Job Market by Dr. Harriet Katz, Professional Coach and Career Counselor
 
10-11:30 am: One-on–One Job Counseling. Please call 718-579-4257 to reserve a slot.
 
11-12 noon: Dynamic Resumes with Frederick Johnson, Manager, Hunt’s Point Workforce1 Career Center
 
12-1 pm: Phase Two: The Interview with Janice Moore-Smith, Career Counselor of the Bronx Library Center
 
12-1 pm: Retirees, Put Your Experience to Work with Reserve!
Are you 55 or older and looking for a way to put your professional skills to work on behalf of your community? Do you have good computer skills (i.e., can you send email, use Microsoft Office, do an Internet search)? Learn how you can put your professional expertise to work 10-15 hours/weeks and earn a $10/hour stipend.
 
Representatives of ReServe, a nonprofit group that matches retirees from all walks of life with part-time service opportunities at nonprofits and public agencies, will be on hand to answer questions. Bi-lingual candidates are especially welcome!
 
1-2 pm: Knock ‘em Dead Interview with Dress for Success
Learn proper business etiquette in going on job interviews and how to market your professional skill sets in a concise manner.  Role plays will reinforce good techniques. 
 
1-2 pm: Design your Resume with Microsoft Word

2-3 pm: Learn about entry level jobs (Pharmacy Technicians, Certified Nursing Assistants, etc.)  in the healthcare industry with BronxWorks Workforce Development.
