The Undercover Muffins: Stuff for the Teen Age List 2010

Share

This week, the Undercover Muffins talked about some of their favorite books & movies from the New York Public Library's 2010 Stuff for the Teen Age list:

Evermore by Alyson Noel

"Evermore is about a teenage girl named Ever whose entire family had died in a car crash. She was the only one who survived. So now, she lives with her aunt who constantly checks in on her. Ever since the crash, Ever has been talking to her dead little sister, while falling in love with this new guy in school. Her best friend disappears, almost killed by a vampire and throughout the whole book she can see people's auras and read their minds. It is a really good book. It is hard to put down! In fact, I feel like reading it again after writing this review!"

Orphan (DVD)

"The movie Orphan is about a couple who wants to add to their family so they decide to adopt a little girl. They take her in to their family and know her as this perfect sweet little girl, but that is far from what she is. The movie in my opinion was very good. It contained bits of sadness, moments of happiness, anger, frustration, and suspense and a twist which will leave the viewers speechless!"

Ash by Malinda Lo

"The book Ash is a fairytale in which the main character is a young adolescent who deals with the harsh loss of her mother and also the remarriage of her father. It is a very folklore type fairytale. She suffers extreme loss and turmoil. She goes from wanting to be a fairy who is close to being dead to falling in love with a female who is more alive than anything."

Twilight (DVD)

"The book based movie Twilight became a sensation in America and all around the world. The movie stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. The movie is about a young vampire discovering his part in a non-vampire lifestyle. Edward Cullen and Bella fell in love halfway through the movie due to the uniqueness of their lifestyle. The movie had suspense and fantasy which draws a lot of attention to young adults."

Mia

The new and most popular trend for teenage books does seem to be all about the dark side, vampires and evil. Thank you for your synopsis and I am sure the books that are not already popular will quickly become that way.
