My Library: Megan & Jack

"Sherlock Holmes is great for cleaning!""Sherlock Holmes is great for cleaning!"What are you guys doing at the library today?

Megan: Returning really late books.

Oh no! Was it anything good?

Megan: Umm…

Jack: The Sherlock Holmes thing was good.

Megan: Yeah, I got Sherlock Holmes on tape.

Jack: As narrated by Basil Rathbone!

Megan: Yeah, that was good...kinda boring actually. I also got the Larry McMurtry Crazy Horse on CD. That was interesting. Then two books, they were good. Actually, I didn’t really finish either of them!

Jack: What book is that?

Megan: The History of the Kelly Gang.

Are you going to get anything else today?

Megan: No, just dropping off, paying my fee.

Did you get all those audiobooks to listen to on a trip?

Megan: That’s a great idea but no. I don’t know what compelled me. I just was cleaning and I thought it would be fun to listen to a book on tape. So I decided to get one the next time I was at the library.

Is this the library that you usually go to?

Megan: Yeah, generally because I used to work down the street. I like the atmosphere.

How long have you had a library card?

Megan: 5 years.

Jack: I don’t think I have a library card actually…

Oh no! Do you think you’ll get a library card today?

Jack: Is it easy?

Yeah! You just need ID that shows you live in New York.

Megan: And it’s free! I also like the Mid-Manhattan Library where you can go and look at all the picture files. You can check out as many pictures as you want.

…Which is good for reference! I heard once John Baldessari's images were just directly taken from the picture file.

Megan: Yeah! Which is really cool. I think, with something like that, eventually it will all be on the Internet. But it isn’t going to be as good as seeing the picture right there in front of you. It’s cool to have the ability to do that so hopefully it will stick around.
