In What Can I Do When Everything's On Fire?, the Portuguese novelist António Lobo Antunes tells a story of of madness, growing old, and unconditional love. Set in the steamy underworld of Lisbon's nightclubs in the 1990s, the son of a legendary transvestite searches for his identity as he revisits the harrowing death of his father.
