The Interview with Valda Setterfield, conducted by Deborah Jowitt, was audio recorded on June 4 and 11, 2012.
In this excerpt, Valda Setterfield describes how Merce Cunningham picked up where James Waring left off in helping her to discover herself as a dancer. Setterfield also describes the supportive and nurturing role that Cunningham played in her life.
The Oral History Project Interview with Valda Setterfield was made possible with assistance from the New York State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. Post-production work on this interview is in-progress. The full transcript and audio are expected to be available in early 2013 on-site on the third floor of the Library for the Performing Arts.
