The Crossover by Kwame Alexander

Kwame Alexander recently won the Newbery Medal for his 2014 book, The Crossover, which was also chosen for NYPL's 100 Titles for Reading and Sharing 2014. He'll join us on Tuesay, February 10th at the Hamilton Grange Library Teen Center to talk about The Crossover, being a writer, and more.

Kwame is a poet, author of 18 books, and founder of two literacy organizations: Book-in-a-Day and LEAP for Ghana. He conducts writing/publishing workshops at schools and conferences, has owned several publishing companies, written for the stage and television (TLC's "Hip Hop Harry"), recorded a CD, performed around the world, produced jazz and book festivals, hosted a radio show, worked for the U.S. Government, and taught high school. The New York Times called his recent book, The Crossover, “a beautifully measured novel.” In 2015, Kwame will serve as the Bank Street College of Education’s first writer-in-residence.

TeenLIVE reaches teens culturally, artistically, inspirationally, technologically, and more with the biggest, best, and the brightest stars. TeenLIVE programs spotlight current cultural trends and important mainstays that inform the lives of today’s teens.
