Join The New York Public Library, in collaboration with the Academy of American Poets, for an evening of poetry with  Meena Alexander, Ross Gay and January Gil O'Neil.  

Meena Alexander’s collections of poetry include Birthplace with Buried  Stones  (2013), Quickly Changing River  (2008) Raw Silk (2004) and Illiterate Heart (2002),  the winner of a 2002 PEN Open Book Award. She lives and works in New York City,  where she is Distinguished Professor of English at Hunter College and at the CUNY Graduate Center in the PhD program in English.  

Ross Gay is the author of three collections of poetry: Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude (2015), Bringing the Shovel Down (2011), and Against Which (2006).  He currently teaches at Indiana University and in Drew University’s Low-Residency MFA program in Poetry and Poetry in Translation. 

January Gill O’Neil is the author of Misery Islands (2014) and Underlife (2009). She is executive director of the Massachusetts Poetry Festival and teaches at Salem State University in Salem, Massachusetts.

The event is free and open to the public. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
