The Ascent of Money and the Descent of the West: Historical Reflections on the Decade
The President's Council Spring Dinner was a fascinating evening featuring Harvard Professor Niall Ferguson interviewed by The New Yorker's James Surowiecki. Dr. Ferguson and Mr. Surowiecki engaged in a lively conversation about the importance of financial innovation for economic development, economic patterns throughout history as compared with today's crisis, and how our nation's politics affect financial institutions and the economy. The more than one hundred and thirty guests enjoyed cocktails in Astor Hall, the discussion in South Court Auditorium, and an elegant dinner in the newly renovated Edna Barnes Salomon Room.
