Viewing videos on NYPL.org requires Adobe Flash Player 9 or higher.
The Interview with Douglas Dunn, conducted by Joan Arnold, was audio recorded on May 1, May 15 and June 22, 2009.
In this opening segment of the interview (approximately 66 min.), Douglas Dunn speaks about his childhood in then-rural Palo Alto, California including his early education and memories. He recalls his parents, his sensuous appreciation of life and nature as a child, and the experience of working with cattle and horses. Dunn remembers his first experiences with dance and his developing perceptions of his relationship to American culture. He remembers his interest in sports and moving to the East Coast to attend Princeton University.
The Oral History Project Interview with Douglas Dunn was made possible with assistance from the New York State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. You can listen to the interview in its entirety on-site on the third floor of the Library for the Performing Arts. A full description of the interview, including a content summary, can be found here.
