At the height of his career, Charles Dickens embarked on several reading tours throughout the United States to huge acclaim. Dickens the reader, however, diverged from Dickens the author; he altered his own text and removed any of the darkness we associate with crippled Tiny Tim or the delusional Miss Havisham. Join curator Isaac Gewirtz as he presents original manuscripts, from both the works and the tours, and discusses Dickens as showman.
