ISLAM IN EUROPE—Insult: Fractured States? is a three-evening symposium on June 9, 10, and 11 that gathers prominent, cross-sector speakers from diverse disciplines and the Muslim diaspora to share country-specific perspectives on Muslim communities integration in European society. This opening panel, introduced by Mustapha Tlili (Founder of the Center for Dialogues at New York University), sets the historical framework for the entire symposium and explores how Europes socio-economic and political history led to contemporary, post-colonial immigration and integration issues.

Paul Holdengräber (Director of LIVE from the NYPL) closes the symposium in a conversation with Benjamin Barber (author of Jihad vs. McWorld), Jocelyn Cesari (Harvard University, France), Khaled Fouad Allam (University of Trieste, Italy), Bas Heijne (author, The Netherlands), and Imam Abduljalil Sajid (Imam of the Brighton Islamic Mission).

Political Results vs. Political Actions

Political Debates on foreign policies are skewed in regards to individual outlooks. Foreign laws/religious beliefs shape how individuals percieve reality. Muslim faiths(holy wars) run parallel to financial prosperity. Islamic nations are tired of unwarranted assualts and upheavels follow, i.e. military contra. Great Britain's early conquistial years played a huge role in state divide. Socio-economic "status," prevents assimilation into what modern society grants the "NORM."
