This is a synthetic collection consisting of correspondence dating from 1942 to 1982, and one undated typescript. The typescript is an undated draft of a shortstory entitled "The Streets of Saratoga and New Haven." The correspondence includes letters from the author, dating from 1942 to 1982, to Susan Cheever, William Maxwell, Muriel Rukeyser, and others. There are letters toCheever from William Maxwell, Herbert Mitgang, Thomas Y. Crowell Co., Glenway Wescott, and the editors Cecil Woolf and John Bagguley, dating from 1967 to 1975.
