The Luther Adler collection contains clippings, contracts,correspondence, photographs, programs, scripts and other material that document Mr. Adler's career on stage, screenand television. It includes information about Mr. Adler'sproblems with blacklisting, his involvement with The GroupTheatre and his family both on and off stage.
Biographical/Historical Notes
Luther Adler, an actor, was born May 4, 1903 in New York City. He began his career at the age of five when he joined his parents, Jacob P. and Sarah Adler, stars of theYiddish theater, and his brothers and sisters on stage. Mr. Adler performed on Broadway, in stock and on tour. He appeared in over twenty-five films and on television. He was a founding member of the Group Theatre.
Luther Adler died December 8, 1984.
