The collection consists of excerpts of twenty-five consecutive programs, broadcast weekly from April 28, 1946to September 13, 1946. Thomas Scherman served as conductor for the entire series. Let's Go to the Opera was a 1946 radio series that featured Metropolitan Opera principals and other well known singers of the time in selections from popular operas and operettas. The selections are sung in Englishand introduced with a brief explanation of the plot context. The weekly series was broadcast live on station WOR, the New York affiliate of the Mutual Broadcasting Company.
