Biographical/Historical Note
The Bloomingdale Branch opened in 1898 as part of the New York Free Circulating Libraries system, which was consolidated with The New York Public Library in 1901. During the 1950s the branch moved into a new two-story building one block east of its original location on Manhattan's upper west side.
