Scope/Contents Note

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Periodical Collection was initially composed of periodicals collected by the International Gay InformationCenter (IGIC) and donated to the New York Public Library in 1988. In subsequent years, additional titles were addedto the collection. Most recently, periodicals from the Barbara Gittings and Kay Tobin Lahusen Collection were added. These titles are marked (G). While this additional material expanded the holdings of titles already represented in the collection, new titles were also acquired. New titles are marked (N). Most of the periodicals can be requested in the Manuscripts and Archives Division. Titles followed by a call number (e.g.,*ZAN-1234) should be requested from the Microforms Division, Room 100. There are also many GLBT periodicals held by other units of the New York Public Library. Most of these can be found in the online catalog.
