Scope/Contents Note
Collection consists of correspondence, photographs, playbills, and clippings relating to Van Dresser. Correspondence, 1895-1956, is primarily to Gertrude Norman from actors, singers, musicians, and writers. Also,playbills, clippings and photographs of friends.
Biographical/Historical Note
Marcia Van Dresser (1880-1937) was an American opera and concert singer. She sang soprano roles with U.S. and European opera companies and appeared in concert. GertrudeNorman (d. 1961) was for many years Van Dresser's secretary and companion.
