Collection consists of letters to Sterner and his wife from artists, actors, authors, musicians, and political figures relating mainly to art and cultural matters.
Biographical/Historical Note
Albert E. Sterner (1863-1946) was an American painter, etcher and lithographer. He opened a studio in New York City in 1885, was one of the founders of Painter-Gravers of America, and taught at the Art Students League. His paintings were purchased by and exhibited at museums in Europe and the U.S.
