Scope/Contents Note
Collection consists of correspondence and business and personal papers of the Rodman and Harvey families. Correspondence is of Washington Hendrix Rodman; his wife,Mary Harvey Rodman; and her ancestors Elizabeth Mackaness Harvey and Thomas Mackaness, merchant of New York City. Also, business papers of Andrew Backus, merchant in cotton,yarns and wool in Paterson, N.J.; personal and domestic bills and accounts, ca. 1820-1850, of Rodman as a residentof New York City and Brooklyn; and letters from Lucy A. Rodman to Mary A. Rodman, referring to members of the Whistler family.
