Scope/Contents Note

Collection consists of correspondence, diary and accounts of various members of the Palmer, Howell, Sands, and related families. Papers include accounts of Palmer & Howell, dealers in shell combs, 1851-1859; accounts of Thomas Palmer, 1839-1885; several letters of Anson S. Palmer, 1863; accounts and correspondence of Thomas PalmerHowell, 1871-1900; accounts of Ephraim H. Howell, 1853-1857; Howell family accounts, 1857-1893; accounts of Elisha Sands, 1853-1869; accounts and corrrespondence of Hannah H. Sands, 1863-1885; accounts of Harry H. Sands, 1853-1872; mercantile accounts of Struelens & Palmer, 1858-1859; and letters to George B. Westcott of Milton, Conn.,1847-1874, from members of his family in Bridgeport, Conn.,and New York City. Also, accounts of the estate of John Mead, 1854-1860; accounts of Francis and John Hagadorn, 1861-1884; Brown family accounts, 1864-1871; accounts of James and Eliza Stringer, 1858-1882; several accounts of the Perrin family; and the diary of an unidentified memberof the Perrin family kept during a trip to Europe in 1851.
