· To [?] Young : 1 autograph letter signed : 8 Jun 1878 :(MISC 4135) : from Brackley Villa, Thurlow Park Road, Dulwich, S. E. (printed stationery) : begins, "I am sorry I cannot come to you. I rehearse my choir tomorrow ..." Mounted on an album leaf as part of an autograph collection. Filed with Lady Byron letters (B'ANA 0615).

Biographical/Historical Note

William Hayman Cummings, English singer and musical antiquarian. He was the first to unite the music of Mendelssohn's Festgesang with Charles Wesley's hymn 'Hark!the herald angels sing'.
