Manuscript diary of an unknown American describing his travels in Colombia in search of india rubber, ca. 1851. Records his journey from Cartagena, Colombia on 4 April [1851?] to Tolu, then to Honda via the Magdalena River andon horseback; his return to Cartagena; and side trips in search of rubber trees. Describes his experiences, including an attack of malaria; the countryside; Indian villages; and fellow travelers. Left Chagres (Panama) for St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, where he awaited ship for NewYork.
