Stephen A. Schwarzman Building > Collections & Reading Rooms > Dorot Jewish Division > Newspapers and Periodicals About the ListIncluded on this list are more than 1,200 newspaper and magazine titles of Jewish interest in the collection of the Dorot Jewish Division of The New York Public Library. Although a few of these titles are still in business, most the items listed are older titles that have ceased publication. There are titles from as far back as the 17th century, but the greatest strength of the collection, as of Jewish journalistic culture generally, lies at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. Each entry lists the title of the periodical, followed by its place of publication and the years held by The New York Public Library. Sometimes the Jewish Division's holdings may be incomplete, so that the years listed are not necessarily the same as the dates of publication. An open date (e.g., [1955- ]) indicates that the periodical is still being received in the Jewish Division. Note that some periodicals are held by the Library partly on microfilm
and partly in hard copy as bound volumes. Thus, for example: MIDSTREAM For issues of MIDSTREAM from the years 1955-1977 (on paper), the call number is: *PBD. For issues from 1978 onward (on film), the call number is: *ZAN-*P434. Periodicals with call numbers beginning with *Z are on microfilm. If a given title does not appear, please ask (freidus@nypl.org); the Library may well have a copy on paper only and not on microfilm. Failing that, we can try and locate a copy elsewhere. The list of World Jewish newspapers and periodicals on microfilm is divided into four parts: 1. Titles: an alphabetical list of all the periodicals on microfilm in
